Recently accepted paper in the Journal of Molecular Endocrinology: "Leptin signal transduction underlies the differential metabolic response of LEW and WKY rats to cafeteria diet"
Our work entitled "Leptin signal transduction underlies the differential metabolic response of LEW and WKY rats to cafeteria diet" authored by Martinez-Micaela N, Gonzalez-Abuín N Ardévol A Pinent M Petretto E Behmoaras J and Blay M has just been accepted in the Journal of Molecular Endocrinology. This publication is the result of a collaboration between MoBioFood and Inflammation Research Group at Imperial College in London. The work shows the different phenotypic responses to the "Cafeteria diet" that has been used to induce overweight in two consanguineous strains of rats and the molecular mechanisms that could explain these differences. The study indicates that the genetic background of both animal models significantly influences the metabolic management of surplus energy from the diet and the axis of leptin.
